Dr Camille Maubert
Gender & Protection Specialist

I research and evaluate gender-based violence prevention programmes — with a particular focus on engaging men and boys, shifting harmful gender norms, and measuring social change in conflict and humanitarian settings.

Based in London, working globally.

Gender-transformative research & evaluation in conflict and humanitarian settings - with a specialist focus on engaging men and boys for GBV prevention

Research meets Practice

My work bridges academic rigour and field practice, bringing systematic, evidence-based thinking to programme design and evaluation, while remaining grounded in the realities of humanitarian programming: compressed timelines, limited budgets, difficult access, and rapidly shifting contexts. The goal is evidence that is both methodologically credible and operationally useful.

Engaging Men and Boys

My specialist focus is on engaging men and boys in GBV prevention — anticipating where resistance is likely to arise and designing programme entry points that mitigate it. This means moving beyond the framing of men as 'just' perpetrators and developing contextually grounded approaches that address the structural and psychosocial dimensions of their lives, particularly in conflict settings.

Contextual expertise

Since 2018, I have worked predominantly in low- and middle-income and conflict-affected settings, with a particular geographical focus on the Great Lakes region. A significant part of that experience has been alongside local NGOs and community organisations, providing grounded insight into how programmes function at the community level and where design and implementation tend to diverge.

Ethics by design

I hold myself to high standards of research ethics, data quality, and methodological transparency. This includes rigorous attention to safeguarding, informed consent, and the protection of vulnerable participants. I am also explicit about confidence levels and the limits of what the evidence can show. The measure of good research is not only its technical rigour but whether it serves the people it is about.
